At Home-Start Warrington & Cheshire, we’re lucky to have an amazing team who are all passionate about supporting families. One of those people is Alexis, our Family Support Coordinator in Northwich and Winsford, and also our Interim Senior Coordinator. We wanted to give you a peek into her role here at Home-Start.
Supporting Families and Volunteers
The heart of Alexis’ role is working directly with families and volunteers. Alexis meets with families to get to know them and find out what it is that they’re interested in. She then works to match families with the appropriate volunteers, making sure they get the most out of their Home-Start experience.
Once matched, Alexis offers ongoing support to both the families and the volunteers, providing supervision and guidance when needed. She checks in regularly to make sure everyone’s needs are being met.
Working with Other Agencies
Alexis works closely with other professionals and agencies to make sure that all necessary information about each family is communicated efficiently. This helps to make sure that no one is left out of the loop and families are getting the best possible support from all angles.
Mentoring and Supervising Social Work Students
Something Alexis really enjoys is being an on-site supervisor for social work students. Helping students grow, learn, and develop their skills is such an important part of what she does. Alexis provides the support and feedback they need to get the most out of their experience with us.
Supporting the Team
In her role as Interim Senior Coordinator, Alexis also supervises two coordinators and an outreach worker. She’s there for monthly supervision meetings, offering advice, support and always making sure her team feels confident and ready for whatever comes their way. Alexis loves helping her team grow and succeed in their roles, offering the guidance they need to feel their best.
At the heart of everything Alexis does is the difference she can make in the lives of families. She finds it incredibly rewarding to see families grow, develop, and thrive with the support of Home-Start. Being able to mentor social work students and lead her team adds an extra layer of fulfilment, knowing she’s helping to shape the future of the sector.
