At Home-Start Warrington & Cheshire, we’re all about supporting families and making sure no one feels alone, and at the heart of it all is our CEO, Ellie Harrison. From leading the team to securing vital funding, Ellie wears many hats to keep everything running smoothly. But what does a typical day look like for her? Let’s take a peek behind the scenes!
Leading the Team
Ellie works closely with our Board of Trustees to shape the organisation’s strategic vision, ensuring we’re always working towards the best outcomes for families. Day-to-day, she oversees our incredible staff team, supporting five key team members, including our Business Development Manager, Family Support Coordinator, and Dad Matters Coordinators. Whether it’s checking in with staff, organising team-building days, or supporting volunteers, Ellie makes sure that everyone feels valued and heard.
Making a Difference Behind the Scenes
A big part of Ellie’s role is securing funding to help us continue supporting families across the region. She works on funding bids, including large-scale applications like the National Lottery, and builds strong relationships with funders such as Public Health and Cheshire Community Foundation. She also plays a vital role in reporting back to funders, ensuring transparency and accountability.
Giving Families a Voice
Advocating for families is at the heart of what we do, and Ellie takes this seriously. She raises the voices of parents and children both locally and nationally, ensuring their needs are heard by key decision-makers. Whether it’s through Home-Start UK, Family Alliance meetings, or Family Hubs Steering Groups, Ellie works tirelessly to make sure families have the support they need.
Building Strong Community Connections
Collaboration is key, and Ellie is constantly working with local charities, universities, and organisations to strengthen partnerships. From student placements to working alongside other voluntary groups, she ensures that Home-Start Warrington & Cheshire is always part of a strong, supportive network.
