Home Start Warrington & Cheshire welcome Josie, our new Dad Matters Coordinator.

Home-Start Warrington and Cheshire are delighted to introduce our new Dad Matters Coordinator, who joined us at the beginning of January 2023.

I am married Mum of 2 primary school aged children.  Both of my boys were born prematurely 2 years apart at 26+5 and 28+3 weeks gestation and between them spent almost 6 months on the neonatal unit.  During their early years, the hospital was a big part of our lives as my boys visited frequently due to illness various outpatient clinic appointments.  My youngest son has severe allergies that result in anaphylaxis, so we carry JEXT pens with us everywhere.  I wanted to use the experiences my family went through in a positive way to help others, so I started volunteering.  I co-founded a neonatal peer support group called Wire Warriors (in Warrington) and joined the Neonatal Parent Advisory Group at Alder Hey to try to help with continuous improvement in the NHS across the North West.

I am very proud to now be working as a Dad Matters Coordinator based in Warrington (and offering support throughout Cheshire) and I am excited to provide support to Dads to help them have the best possible relationship with their children.  Along with helping people I have a passion for learning and with a background in Supply Chain, Planning and Coordination, I am very organised, have a spreadsheet for everything and Google is my friend.  I am also an actor so you never know, you might see me on the TV one day!
