Safeguarding
Safeguarding is at the heart of Home-Start Warrington and Cheshire. All employees are expected to have a knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures and to comply with and always have a commitment to best safeguarding practice, immediately reporting any concerns regarding Safeguarding and Child Protection or the protection of Vulnerable Adults to the Designated Safeguarding Lead and/or Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.
Purposes of the job:
- Working co-operatively with the Family Services Manager to ensure delivery of the business and operational plan.
- To contribute to the effective day to day operation of the scheme in accordance with the Home-Start Memorandum & Articles of Association, Home-Start Standards & Methods of Practice, Home-Start Agreement and Quality Assurance Standards.
- Supporting the implementation of all Home-Start policies and procedures.
- Complying with and supporting the scheme’s administration, monitoring and financial systems.
- Contributing to and supporting the development of the Home-Start network locally, regionally and nationally.
Main responsibilities:
Support for families
- Assessing needs and offering support to families and introducing families to appropriate support.
- Updating and maintaining records in relation to children and young people.
- Ensuring support to families is reviewed at regular intervals and at the end of Home-Start support.
- Leading and supporting group activities for families and their volunteers
- Undertaking designated responsibilities to safeguard and promote children’s welfare
Training and Management of Volunteers
Working with the Family Services Manager to
- Recruit, select, prepare and train volunteers.
- Match and introduce volunteers to families.
- Provide support, supervision and on-going training opportunities for volunteers.
- Deliver the Home-Start preparation course to a high standard to all prospective volunteers
- Support volunteers to feel valued through a variety of activities
Working in Partnership
- Liaising with referrers and other professionals.
- Networking appropriately within the community.
- Promoting the work of the scheme, its profile, ethos and practice, as required by the CEO
- Undertake training and continuing professional development as required to fulfil the role or develop new areas of work as required.
